For the last two weeks we went down to San Diego and stayed at Humphrey’s on Shelter Island.  Frank is down there working on the base on Coronado.  This week, when we should be in San Diego, enjoying the ocean and the sun and the sights, Megan is attending freshman orientation.  She’s excited about it.  Me….not…

Last Sunday I took Meg down to Huntington Beach to watch the final day of the surfing and BMX competitions.  The surfing, while very good, was too hard to see.  We went up on the pier and they were standing three deep.  As you can see from this first photo, the beach didn’t offer much better vantage…
